In Algonquian legend, the Wendigo is a gaunt, supernatural creature associated with winter, starvation, and greed. Said to roam northern forests, it represents a person consumed by hunger so extreme they become a monster. The Wendigo’s lore appears across Cree, Ojibwe, and Innu cultures.
